Welcome

Welcome to try a new way. This site is for all of us who:

  • are ready to explore new ways of managing life's BIG moments

  • want to talk to someone about a current big struggle!

  • need a person to officiate a funeral or wedding ceremony but don't know where to turn

I am happy to visit with you via phone or email to see how I might be of help.

About me:

My name is Doug Meyer

Hi there, welcome to my website.

I am a newly retired Pastor from the United Methodist church - for over 40 years I held space with men, women and families as they journeyed through some of life's most challenging moments. â€‹

In those years I learned many things :

  • life is full of big exciting moments

  • life contains messy unmanageable moments

  • We all need somebody to help us sort things out

  • we don't all know exactly where to turn to access teh help we need

  • for some the church can be that place because it traditionally is comprised of  loving and caring people

  • some have experienced "the church" as a place of judgement and it is the last place they would turn for help

  • Some folks are - understandably -  "fed-up" with the church.

  • The church does not have the corner on the market of all things spiritual and holy!

You don't have to "do church" to be a person of faith

I get it - the church is NOT for everybody -

if you have walked away from the institution we call church - I understand!

It is my hope to help you at your greatest time of need or simply in everyday life.

  • I can help you by leading your loved ones funeral.

  • I can help you by officiating your wedding or vow renewal.

  • I can listen as you talk about struggles you might be having with health, marriage, divorce, remarriage or kids. I have experiences with all of these including stage 3 prostate cancer.

  • I can listen and help you make a plan as you talk out loud, maybe for the very first time, about your addiction and locate the kind of help you need.

Ways we can work together  :

Let's visit over a cup of coffee and see if there is a way I can be of help. Some of the things I do well are:

  • help people name and begin to address ways to face life's BIG messes, especially addiction and recovery,

  • help plan and officiate funerals and weddings for all people,

  • help men face issues around sexuality following prostate cancer surgery,

  • help couples discuss the challenges of marriage and on occasion divorce

Stuff people have said about me

As a middle aged man, Doug Meyer has assisted me in many seasons of life including child-rearing, divorce, remarriage and serves as a valued sounding board for the myriad circumstances my demographic faces.  Doug is a great listener, follows up with great questions, and assists me in determining the next best steps always with a sense of humor.

Doug is authentic, relatable, empathetic, gregarious, and disarming.  These wonderful characteristics open hearts, put people at ease, and allow God’s love and message to land easily on people who feel they are listening or speaking to a friend.  His deep faith and genuine humanity – with all the human failings that go with it- have been a catalyst for a much deeper relationship with God and commitment to my faith while rarely feeling like I heard a sermon.  Doug officiated my brother’s memorial service with a wonderful message that brought peace and hope to my brother’s loved ones.  After the service, a dear friend of my brother told me “I never knew church could be this great, no wonder your brother loved going every Sunday!”   Whether listening to a message, talking over coffee, or wrestling with a struggle, Doug is that friend that shows you God’s love through his own.

It is my great privilege to recommend  Rev. Doug Meyer, a man whose leadership, compassion, and unwavering presence have deeply affected my life and the life of our church community.

For the past fifteen years, Doug has served as my pastor, guide, and friend. He has been a comforting presence during some of life’s most difficult seasons, including the passing of my mother. His counsel and support were invaluable as I faced personal challenges related to recovery, always offered with empathy, wisdom, and without judgment.

Doug’s influence extends far beyond the pulpit. He has consistently encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone in service of others, including accompanying me as I visited a young man in prison—a moment that profoundly shaped my understanding of grace and service. Under Doug’s mentorship, I have grown into a leadership role within our church, something I would not have imagined possible without his guidance and belief in my potential.

Whether in a hospital room, a church meeting, or a quiet conversation over coffee, Doug brings peace and clarity into some of life’s most stressful moments. His ministry is marked by deep integrity, unwavering faith, and a genuine love for people.

I recommend Doug Meyer without reservation. Any community or organization would be blessed by his leadership, heart, and steady presence.

I have been a ministry colleague of Doug’s for 30 years. I have had the privilege of working closely on a church staff with him for the last 15 years. Doug is the real deal; he has both the head and heart for ministry. Doug is transparent, vulnerable, and sincere. He loves God and God’s people, and it shows in all he says and does. Doug’s office has been the place where staff and church members come to share their fears and celebrate their victories. Add me to that list. Doug is the best listener. He provides perspective and support. Everyone thinks they are his best friend.

Doug is a phenomenal leader. Whether he is preaching to hundreds of people or having a meaningful conversation with just one person, he has a way of connecting with people at deep levels. I had the opportunity to work with Doug for 4 years and during a portion of that time, he was my direct supervisor. He was an excellent supervisor, always encouraging me to grow. I have upmost respect for Doug and I'm grateful for the impact he made in my life.

It has been a true honor to work with Doug in ministry. As a pastor overseeing our congregational care at Trietsch, he has shown extraordinary dedication to walking with people through all of life’s big moments—visiting the sick, comforting families in crisis, leading support groups, officiating weddings and funerals, and supporting those facing addiction and recovery. He led our addiction recovery ministry with compassion and wisdom, journeying with countless people toward healing and hope. Beyond his pastoral gifts, Doug is a tireless worker, a loyal and trustworthy teammate, and a genuinely great friend. He is real with people and has no problem showing his own vulnerabilities, which makes him even better at caring for others and being relatable. He leads with humility, serves with heart, and shows up for people—always. His faith, integrity, and steadfast presence have inspired me every single day. Anyone would be blessed to work with him, learn from him, or be cared for by him.
